Career & Education
Five years from now, I see myself working full time in a tech-related role that actually pays what my time is worth. By then I’ll be several years out of SOWELA with experience behind me, not just classes on a transcript. I picture myself as a web designer, front-end developer, or IT pro who can handle both the look and the logic of a project.
I want to walk into a job where I’m respected, where my ideas matter, and where I’m still learning new things. I’m not doing all this school and late-night studying just to stay stuck at the same level.
Life, Family, and Goals
In five years, I want my life to feel more settled and less chaotic. I see my daughter even more confident and independent, and I want her to look back and know her mom really did the work to give her better. Financially, I want my bills caught up, my savings growing, and room in my budget for experiences – not just survival.
Some things I’m aiming for in the next five years:
- Holding a stable, well-paying job in tech or web design.
- Living in a home that feels calm, organized, and ours.
- Building an emergency fund and aggressively paying down major debt.
- Taking at least one good trip a year with my daughter.
- Continuing to learn new technologies and earn certifications.
I also want to be more connected to other people in tech, especially women and minorities. I can see myself using resources like freeCodeCamp and other online communities to keep growing long after I’m done with school.
